Special note for Netscape users
We recently made some changes to the mail server. If you are using Netscape mail and are having problem sending mail, please read through all warnings and messages you encounter. Netscape uses special functions that we enabled, and you might be asked to enter your password and accept an SSL certificate when sending mail. These are normal messages and if you select "Save password" and "Accept this certificate permanently" you should not see the messages again. A short description of each of the options are listed below, as well as a description on how to turn off those options.
SMTP-AUTH - This is an authentication scheme that will allow users to send mail through our server even if they are on a different network. We had something in place called pop-before-smtp and it would allow you to send mail through the Waymark mail server only after you tried to download your mail. SMTP-AUTH is a little different and offers more features. The pop-before-smtp is still there, but SMTP-AUTH is the preferred method of sending mail through our servers if you are travelling or on a remote network.
SSL Encryption - We also take advantage of SSL Encryption of mail between the end user and our mail servers, and from our mail servers to other mail servers that support encryption. This will benefit anyone that is security conscious reguarding their e-mail.
Netscape mail, by default, uses both of these features if available. Since they are just now turned on, Waymark users will get a password message and a certificate message. If you want to continue sending mail, you have the option of either putting in your password and accepting the certificate, or turning off these features in your mail program.
Those settings are under:
Edit --> Mail and Newgroup account settings --> Outgoing server (SMTP) --> then uncheck "Use name and password" and select "Never" under the "Use secure connection".
If you are having other problems, please take care to read all error messages fully before calling support. Messages that just require you to enter your password or press enter please do so. If you are having problems connecting to the mail server or other problems with the internet, don't hesitate to call.
